Snow overnight – and we’re ready!
Dear fellow Camden residents,
One of the aims of our residents’ association is to encourage contribution to, the life and wellbeing of our Camden community – and those coming into contact with it. One of the ways we do this is by supporting our local snow patrol team, to help ensure that people travelling through our neighbourhood, be it on foot, scooter or bike, can do so safely in times of serious snowfall.
You may not be aware that there is a plan in place for this, run by friend of the CRA, Steve Kamlish and his small team of Camden snow patrollers. The snow plan for Camden is this:
The Council will plough and grit the road surface of Camden Road as a priority but it won’t do the pavements. We are encouraged to clear the snow from Camden’s pavements into the gutter and then sprinkle some salty grit to stop them icing over. Please do as much as you can as we are not all as agile as one another!
Steve and his team will help ensure, in liaison with the Council, that there are always supplies of grit / salt located around the neighbourhood in bespoke black bins, available for residents to access and use.
These bins are located at:
- St Stephen’s Steps – bottom
- Pera Place – top
- Bennett’s Lane – top
- Frankley Buildings – top
In addition there two smaller bins on Camden Terrace and Belle Vue Lane and some residents store salt in their front gardens – we’ll publish a list of these once they are confirmed.
It’s a nice simple system – and, with everyone doing their small bit, the burden is shared (and light). If you’d like to get involved in helping Steve in any way, please click here. And if you take any good photos of us doing any gritting. please use the same link.
See you out there later!
Jeremy
Probably a good idea to clear the alleyway between Camden Road and Arundel Road. Sorry I’m nearly 80 years with a bad leg!
