A quiz, some more events, and a .Gov consultation
A few quick updates from me:
1) We had a lovely time last night at our first Pub Quiz collaboration with our friends at The Claremont. There was a Bath and Camden focus to all the questions (some of them fiendishly hard!), penned by our very own Richard Coates. Turnout was great (full house), and the atmosphere was friendly and fun – Daniel, indefatigable landlord at The Claremont, notably commented on the overriding sound of the laughter around the place. A prize draw followed the quiz, with some great prizes donated by Committee members and others (a Kindle Fire Pro for kids, some great red wine, a Google Nest Hub smart display, and two wonderful framed photographs by talented local resident, Shay Parsons). We’ll be doing another, for sure.
2) Building on the success of the quiz and the summer’s street party, we’re beavering away planning some great Future CRA Events to continue one of our core CRA themes: to Connect the people of our wonderful neighbourhood and deepen our sense of community. Look out for a great Trick or Treat event in October, a new style AGM in November (at Burdall’s Yard, with cool new bar by Always Sunday – and with more a focus on socialising, drinks and live music), and a reprise of the wonderful Bath Guitar School annual Christmas busk (at Camden Meadow / Crescent). Watch this space…
3) There’s a Government call for evidence out now relating to short-term holiday accommodation and the potential development of a registration scheme. There will be mixed views on this perhaps. A lot of people, across Bath, rent out all or part of their homes on Airbnb or similar, helping their incomes and mostly with no bother at all to their neighbours. But of course there are also occasional problems from time to time with ‘party houses’. If this is a subject that interests you, the link is here. Deadline for responses, 21 September.
Cheers
John
