Camden Crescent viaduct and railings will finally get fixed
Here is the text of an email I received on Thursday which I’ve slightly adapted.
Dear Jeremy, I am writing to provide an update on the Camden Crescent Refurbishment proposals. I apologise for the short notice in firming up this programme of work.
Preparatory works are to commence next Monday 29th June
There will be 2 way temporary traffic signals positioned on the southbound lane adjacent to the viaduct and railings for one week. This is to enable access down to the face of the viaduct and to carry out the preparatory works including preparation of masonry trial sample panels required by the Listed Building consent conditions. (details of the traffic management and Parking suspensions can be found on the attachment ‘TM Phase1’) the parking suspensions in Phase 1 are required to enable the placing of the temporary signal heads (traffic lights) as required by Highway standards.
The main works shall commence on the 13th July
The proposal is to carry out the main works without 2 way temporary traffic signals, so the works can continue down on the viaduct with just a footway closure and minimise disruption to the network. Unfortunately it is going to be necessary to suspend some parking spaces in front of the Crescent. This is to allow the contractor to place a welfare unit compound. There will also be a couple of occasions where the contractor will need to move the access scaffold down in front of the viaduct this will need 2 way temporary signals or managed under Stop & Go boards but for only a short duration. Please find details of the main works traffic management proposals attached ‘TM Phase2’

If it were possible a bit more notice would have been desirable. However the really good news is this work that has been in the balance for several years will actually get started. My predecessors on the Committee will be pleased I’m sure.
With the temporary traffic lights further to the NE end of Camden Road there will be two sets of traffic lights for through traffic to negotiate next week.
