The Lockdown is helping the committee work better!
Here is a representation of how the Committee has met for the last two weeks and will meet again next Tuesday. If you do have any local concerns for us to consider then, please feed them through any of the above that you know, or to me directly, Jeremy, Chair, at [email protected].
There have been many remarks on how much more like a ‘low traffic neighbourhood’ Camden currently is. Less motorised vehicles, of course, but also people on two wheels or two feet who are prepared to stop and converse across the street. The weather has been fabulous and many of us have got time to talk too. In cities around the world, from Berlin to Bogota, in order to make social distancing easier, pavements and cycle lanes are being widened using the street space vacated by commuter cars. London seems more diffident. Could we not be thinking about this along our streets with very narrow pavements where the average speed is no doubt increasing and walking out into the road is tricky?
Concerted action is also possible thanks to digital communications, as we saw with the Easter egg hunt last Sunday. One of our committee has suggested an idea from Wellow where twinkly lights have been put up along the street. This is proving a fillip for the village during the evenings. I wonder whether we could do this ourselves from one end to the other? I live on Prospect Place and I’ve got a set of outdoor Christmas lights which would stretch along the walls of about three houses, at least. Is anyone else interested in doing the same thing along their stretch? Please reply below.
Finally are there people here interested in a virtual quiz night. We have some quiz masters but we need a manageable number of households who’d like to compete. Just express interest by replying below.
We’d love to do a virtual quiz. Would also be up for twinkly lights, but too far from road to plug in…
Maybe 6CV can help?
