End of week notices
- Well, the Camden clapping lasted long enough for my hands to sting a bit. There were fireworks at the Larkhall end and the fire engines were blasting out from Bathwick Street. Everyone I spoke to was very moved.
- If anyone has an A4 laminator and envelopes they no longer require the RUH could make good use of it. Please note you won’t get it back. Just deliver to the bright turquoise door at 8 Berkeley Place
- Our coordinator, Louise, has been doing a great job building up our database of volunteers and requesters. However our scope is quite limited and there will be times where we have ‘to signpost’ you to someone or somewhere else. An example of this was when there was a request for help with an ailing freezer we were able to signpost the person on to an online order at Curry’s and a suggestion to keep the door shut till then. We believe it will arrive tomorrow!
- 3SG, which stands for Third Sector Group. The ‘third sector’ is not:
- public sector (eg NHS, B&NES) or
- private sector (Virgin Care, BUPA etc)…
- but the voluntary and charity sector.
- 3SG have been working to organise a new voluntary effort and partnering with the other two established sectors in B&NES. They are just about ready to offer a call centre service. For those of us in Camden you can still use our red button on the web-site to get started.
- Just as a reminder, we are a few volunteers and cannot deal with serious emergencies, 24 hours per day. What we can do is link people together. We have a list of people who have offered to do:
- fetch and carry shopping or adding items to their regular shop, physical or on-line
- loneliness support
- general support by phone
- dealing with recycling on a Thursday – at present, that is!
- After we link you up we aim to leave you both ‘to it’. If it does not work out for any reason then do come back to us and we help you decide what would work best next time.
Keep well, keep safe and keep looking out for your near neighbours. Have a good week-end.
