Camden’s own local election question time.
Next Monday we are very glad to be able to host candidates from all five parties standing in the local election for the wards of Walcot and/or Lansdown. With three days before you vote, this is a great opportunity to hear from the candidates on issues that are important to Camden and NE Bath.
The CRA Committee has taken the most important recommendations from our our fifty page report published last year just prior to the CAZ announcement and is asking candidates for commitment to addressing these were they to be elected. These include:
- an Eastern P&R,
- protecting pedestrians and cyclists at the junction of Camden Road and Lansdown Road,
- reducing speeding
- giving buses priority along Camden Road
- making Camden a ‘low traffic neighbourhood’.
We hope there will also be time for some of your questions too. By sending them to us in advance (click here) you stand the best chance of getting them raised on the night.
Please come and join us to hear how each party will respond and if you so wish carry on the discussion in the Claremont pub afterwards. Let’s see how local democracy is working for the betterment of those living in Camden.
Details are:
- Date: Monday , 29th April, 2019
- Time: 7.15 for 7.30pm
- Venue: Claremont Community Centre, Eastbourne Avenue.
Can I suggest a minor modification to your second point? Protect pedestrians and cyclists at that junction. It’s the scariest bit of my commute by a margin.
Thanks for reading and commenting – done! The question, if put to the candidates tomorrow, will include cyclists too.
