A meeting to talk about community in Lansdown including the pub
St. Stephen’s church will be hosting this which will include an update on the future of the Richmond Arms on the 22nd of May at 7.30pm.
The owners have just published a statement as follow:
The building work is continuing. We are in the stages of painting and decorating and fitting out. It is being carried out in line with the 2015 planning permission (which is on the BANES website if you are interested). The works on the external structure at the back, the main roof, the attic and the upper two floors have been mostly finished and decorating is underway. If anybody would like to look inside we are happy to arrange a time to show you around especially this week and next.
Sidney Phillips are continuing to market the property using their own database of publicans and restaurant owners and marketing with the Morning Advertiser, Daltons Weekly, Businesses for Sale, Rightbiz, Zoopla and Prime Location. We have a couple of interested possible tenants including the gentleman interested in setting up a Turkish restaurant with whom we are undertaking due diligence.
The Save the Richmond Arms group for the pub have had the pub valued. However, they have decided not to make an offer to purchase the property at this time. We have not had any interested party(s) to take on the pub either as freehold or leasehold to date from the community.
We have not submitted a change of use application at this point and seriously looking to reopen the business ourselves in the near future.
We are also seriously looking at reopening the pub and running the business ourselves. Catherine will be driving this forward and would like to establish good links with local community groups. Watch this space.
As always we are happy to meet, chat or follow up with constructive advice or ideas.
Kind regards,
Rupert, Catherine and Jamie
