Wera troubled by the CAZ
We’ve heavily precis’d local MP, Wera Hobhouse’s press release today:
We must act urgently to address pollution and transportation issues in Bath. I support a Clean Air Zone. However, in its current form the Clean Air Zone creates some serious challenges. There is the very real risk of rat runs through communities outside the border of the Clean Air Zone, as well as the threat of excessive parking in these areas, as commuters seek to beat the charge. I would encourage them to look again at the size of the scheme.I thoroughly encourage all residents to take part in the month long consultation period, and make your views heard. This is a hugely important change in our city, we have to deliver cleaner air for everyone’s sake, but we have to do it having listened to the views of residents, workers and visitors alike.
The CRA is broadly in line with what Wera is saying. Our committee members will be starting to knock on the 400 Camden doors later this week offering you our newsletter, which highlights the issues for Camden and encouraging you to come to our AGM – we will have the council cabinet members responsible for the plan present. This takes place on Thursday November 22nd at 7.30pm in the Claremont Methodist Church.
If you have not done so by then there will still be four days to comment on the plan before the consultation shuts on Monday 26th November using the Council’s on-line survey tool.
I’m told we should all be receiving a post card through the door from the council this week summarising the key features of the CAZ plan.
